Hi all,

This was one of the subject that gave us a good time, when we visited Bannerghatta. I'm not sure of the ID , so i've named it as "Bronze winged Gem". This Damsel fly was about an inch in length and had a bronzed colored wing in flight. Any help with the ID is welcome.

Since this was very low on the ground, I had to adjust my tripod to that level to shoot this pic.

Hope you ppl will like it.

Goutham R

Hello Goutham,
yes, I like this picture of an unusual coloured damsefly and this minimalistic composition.
Sharpness and focus are excellent. Colours are natural and well composed.
This time, I can't help with ID. But I think that it belongs to the genus Euphaea (family: Euphaeidae).
Best wishes, Peter

Your "gem" looks like an arrowhead to me Goutham, a superlative macro-capture in perfect focus agains an OOF BG. The wings do look a little extraordinary, but for me the eyes are more so, surely those compound eyes have different resolution gradations, probably with more resolution in upper levels. Narure has strange ways indeed!

Hi Goutham. You named it well . Its a beautiful looking one. Which with your low POV lets us see the side view so well with fine detail. Your use of the light give natural colours. against the plain BG. well done TFS.

Hello Goutham,

WOW!!! What a very nice shot! The damselfly is perctly horizontal and f/8.0 is more than enough to get the whole insect in focus. Very nice bg with similar colors. You got a great POV and the perch is very nice too!

Great job and TFS!

Michel

Hi Goutham,

Lovely macro of the damsel fly, good composition, POV, wish you could give little more brightness to the picture, it would enhance the beauty.TFS.

Hi Goutham,
a very well chosen POV and a perfect DOF that has really seperated this Damsel nicely from the BG...well done!
Paul

Hallo Goutham
Fantastic macro shot, excellent detail, perfect dark colours displayed with great clarity. Excellent framing and superb focus. Damselflies as well as dragon flies are fantastic creatures and your post is displaying this very well. The colour is just magic. The unopened blossoms and water droplets adds that special oomph to this already delightful photo.
Best regards
Anna
