Hi all,
This is "Wandering violin mantis", which is also known as "Indian rose mantis"(Gongylus gongylodes), which is an is an insect of the order Mantodea. This is one of the more bizarre looking mantises. Characterized by extremely slender limbs with large appendages. It is not a particularly aggressive species and often kept as a pet by hobbyists. It feeds primarily on flying insects. Its native range is in southern India and Sri Lanka. It can reach sizes of up to 11 cm. The males of the species are capable of flight.

This title was coined by Murali, who after looking at this pic named it as Dancing Queen

Well, surely this is the first time I'm seeing this exotic looking mantis Goutham, you've captured it in a perfect posture from the side my friend, TFS this fine and interesting image.
Cheers,
Mehmet

Wow, this is a jazzy Mantis, Goutham!
The title suggested by Murali does fit here.
You have captured this insect with your usual dexterity, offering a very sharp and crisp image of it against a dark green BG.
I do not see or find Mantises at all here in north India. I wonder why.
Regards.

Amazing mantid, Goutham! Looks like an alien kungfu fighter! Splendid capture and good composition! Is this an immature male (nymph) or a wingless female?
Joe

i have just logged in after sooting a mantid resting on a small plant in my garden and now looking at this post, this species looks quite interesting, the idea of having a matis as a pet sounds to be quite interesting, well composed shot,

Hello Goutham,

This is a very strange insect for me. You have shown it well, sharp details beeing well shown. Colors are looking natural and the contrast with the background loks well.

Great title to this amazing insect Goutham! This is one of your best macro pictures and also one of the best mantid images in TN gallery in my opinion! Together with fantastic title (I really like it!!!) this is very unique presentation.
TFS and I am waiting for the next image from you!

Hi Goutham,
excellent shot of this incredible insect. The whole unreal scene looks like "Murder on the Dancefloor" to me (to use a title of a Sophie Baxter song).
My best regards
