Hi all,
This is another gem from from my trip to Lalbaugh in Bangalore, this moth when in flight looked like a butterfly, but from its resting position , you can make out its a moth! I'm not sure about the ID so shot this for a record. Any help on this is welcome.

Update,
Thanks to peter this is Nyctemera coleta.

Namaste Goutham,

your picture shows the day-flying moth Nyctemera coleta from the family Arctiidae.
The superbly sharp picture nicely introduces this species. Details including the
wing surface structure are very clear. Colours are really natural.
I had the opportunity to observe many different Nyctemera species in
Indonesia. Unfortunately, I have no pictures.

Best wishes, Peter

Hello Goutham,
Very interesting moth, well photographed and of subtle beauty. I love the fine coloration of the wings and the dark green background making a good contrast to it. May be you should add the ID Peter Roos gave to you in the title of your picture, it would be easier to find it in the archives of TN.
I wish you a very happy 2009 and I'm looking forward seeing you in Switzerland
Best regards
Anne
