[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is barn swallow ((Hirundo rustica).

Shooting these birds using Car as a hide is something that we have been doing a lot these days.

Many birds will quickly accept the presence of a car as a hide and you will be able to begin shooting almost immediately, whereas other species will require time to accept the car as a hide , so have patience.
One strategy is to park the car far away, and move it closer and closer over a period of time until it is at the desired shooting location. It is also a good idea to pop your lens out before so your subject isn't startled by your camera lens when you really place it.

It is also very important that photography of birds should be done only after you understand bird behavior. So, before approaching their habitat, study the birds and determine what their behavior is in an undisturbed condition. Keep a safe distance and use binoculars for close observation. This helps in getting to know things like their frequency of perch visits.. their favorite perches etc.

Get longest lens possible: Always use your longest lens; this helps you in maintaining your distance and to keep disturbance to a minimum.

Have Patience: A good nature photographer should have lots of patience. Hiding and waiting until birds come closer is much better for the birds, and it leads to better photographs of the bird’s natural behavior in an unthreatened state. Avoid movement in and out of the car as much as possible, the bird might see you and feel threatened. Carry adequate food and water to accommodate long periods of wait.Pre-Compose the shot on the perch where the bird sits and always set up the lens at the eye level of the bird, this gives better POV.

Never change the surrounding habitat for the sake of lighting / background. Remember the bird has chosen visit the place because of the current habitat. Picture is not important than the security/ comfort level of the bird the bird.

Hello Goutham,
A discreet picture, but a fine one! I love swallows, they are so elegant and vivid. Beautiful pose you caught here, and an very simple, but beautiful composition. Very subtle colors to which I'm always sensitive.
Have a nice day

Hello HP I have experienced this with you and yes I agree and started doing it in delhi in a cycle. Superb shot and well composed. Ganesh

Goutham,
iconic image of perfect concentration, coming in great elegance. Superb.
The image would deserve much more than a thumbnail size presentation, making use of the whole available pixel space - maybe with just a trifle less space at the back.
Thank you. With best regards,
Peter
