Can I survive ?

Hi I'm LTM (Lion-tailed_Macaque) who lives in Valparai range of Western Ghats of India, I belong to a group of about 20 monkey's and our favorite food is "Fig".

We have been leaving here for ages but our range has become increasingly fragmented by the spread of what humans call agriculture , construction of water reservoirs for irrigation and power generation, and their settlements to support such activities.

We don't live, feed or travel through plantations and sic we hate them.

Destruction of our habitat has led to the drastic decrease of our population and as Goutham mentioned in his yesterdays post " http://www.treknature.com/gallery/photo201357.htm " only 2500 of us are left!

In Valparai , we have got accustomed to roads and many of us get killed by speeding vehicles that humans use!

The Only question I ask is Can I survive ? . I believe you have the answer.

Best Regards,
LTM

Hello Goutham,
A fine portrait of a male Lion-tailed Macaque taken from a great POV with fine sharpness and excellent use of flash to illuminate the subject and provide the right, not too dark, BG.
Another example of the way we increasingly dominate the environment with the consequent destruction of habitat and biodiversity. With some luck these threatened species end up in zoos before final extinction. Sorry to be such a pessimist but it is becoming increasingly apparent.
So we may as well enjoy these creatures while they are still to be found and I thank you for sharing this in such a fine way.
Have a good weekend,
Ivan

Hello Goutham,
Fantastic photo of this threatened species. Splendid saturated colours and excellent sharpness. The POV, composition, OOF BG and DOF are also very good.
In 2001 I was at the Highland Mountain Gorillas in Uganda and in 2007 at the Golden Lion Tamarins in Brazil, also threatened species. It's very impressive to see them in the wild, knowing that these are almost the only examples on the world.
Have a good weekend,
Peter

Hi Goutham,
the title is really something to ponder. Even when Im looking at common species I got sad when it died. What more with this magnificent species, which I never see.
You have presented it excellently with the features and also with the facial expression.
Well done capture, really exciting and useful food for thought.

regards,
Foozi
