Interesting to read that the apparition of insects have a great fluctuation from year to year, I can assess the same here. The first hoverfly you met was a success. I've never seen so many black spots on eyes of insects. This hover fly is really amazing. I didn't know anything about them - thanks for the informations beside! I think it would have loved the pollen of my narcissus!

What a lovely macro shot of a Hoverfly. Very well captured. Syrphid Hover fly makes a screech by moving its wings vigorously if I am not mistaken. Thanks for the detailed note. tfs and best wishes.

You really have 40C ? Wow, and I complain when we have over 30 because it's already too hot for me ! :-) I couldn't live in your country ! But the picture here is gorgeous, I love the markings on the Hoverfly and I als like her big white eyes with black spots.
