[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have already posted several pictures of this battered Common Rose swallowtail butterfly on TN and today I’m going to post another one.
The pictures were taken last September in Ajmer, Rajasthan, during my visit to my old school (Mayo College) in connection with a function. I took these pictures in the morning in the garden in front of the guest-house I was staying in.
The 134 years old Mayo campus is a large estate comprising of more than 400 acres. Owing to its verdant environment, it plays host to a sizable wild life comprising of birds, reptiles and insects.
On the morning I took this picture, the small garden was abuzz with a number of butterflies and other winged insects hovering over and settling on Zinnias, Marigolds and Yellow Cosmos.
I have posted this picture in the Larger Post format to show that when I pressed the shutter to take the picture of the Common Rose, another winged insect appeared within the frame in the far left corner and I came to know about it only at the editing stage.
I thought it was an interesting occurrence, and that motivated me to present this picture in the LP format.
Hope you do not find it ostentatious.

I do not wish to repeat the standard note on the species, so here is some basic information about it from Wikipedia:

Simple and to the point. I do like the smaller format. sometimes it takes two to get a point across. I find it the same way, however it says something in the smaller which I cannot put my finger on...Nicely coloured Red coming out of the darkness!

Hi Ram.
I welcome large format too. This fine species as well as entire pictured scene is worthy to be presented in all beauty. Especially I am impressed with precise exposure and reproduction light and dark part of the scene. Visitor on the left side of the frame is cute bones to main scene. Sharpness of the butterfly and flower and their illumination and colours are ultimate. Well done and my warm greetings.

Hello Ram !
Wow, I'm impressed by this picture ! When I opened the big picture, it was really amazing, the butterfly is captured so clearly that I thought he would come out of my monitor. I love how the light is falling on the butterfly and flower, making them out in a stunningly beautiful way. The flying insect at the left side is wonderful, too. I also like how the picture is divided in two in the middle - green BG on right side, black BG on left side. Very well done !

Hi Ram,
The long Photo does look very good.
I think if you wanted to draw attention to the insect coming in,it would have been good to crop off the right side of the photo because that bokeh,beautiful though it is,does tend to draw the attention away.
That said,it is a magnificent image,and jolly super ytoo.

Hi Ram,
a very lovely presentation in a nice colour pallette. The red abdoment is so pretty.
The butterfly blend well against the nice blurry background.
I like the sight of another butterfly coming from behind.
