[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear TN elders and friends

Although I have tried taking quite a few pictures earlier, this is my first best picture that i feel can share with you all. My aunt did help with the camera settings and posting but I am proud to say this is mine.This is the first photo i got right without a blur or shake after several tries.

I hope you like this Monkey Puzzle
(Rathinda amor ( Fabricius ) LYCAENIDAE ), which is my first post.I found some information on the butterfly in Wikipedia after my aunt identified it for me.

This butterfly is common and present in all the Western Ghat districts of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Goa.On upperside the butterfly is dark brown.On underside it is white to dark yellowish brown.The hindwing has a silvery margin with many irregular black lines and spots within.

It is found in jungle areas of moderate to heavy rainfall. The butterfly has a weak flight, it stays low and does not fly for long without alighting. Its method of alighting is interesting - as soon as it lands, it turns around and waggles its tail filaments, it also sidesteps for a while - to confuse a predator as to which side is its head. This could be the reason why it is also called "Monkey Puzzle."

First of all, a warm welcome to TN. : )
We are always happy to see young talent here.
That is an excellent picture of that beautiful butterfly.
The details are very sharp.
It is not easy to hold the camera steady enough to do that.
The colors are vivid.
The point of view from which you took the shot is well chosen.
You got to show the gorgeous patterns on the underwing.
The composition is very nice, with the butterfly perched on one side.
You also did a good job with the notes.
One of the best thing about TN is learning about all sorts of animals from all over the world, by reading other people's notes and researching for your own.
I will be looking out for more pictures from you in the near future.

A super shot Nihal, Welcome to TN.
Love the fine detail and beautiful colors you managed to capture. The focus is as sharp as a tac and the exposure is right on the money.
I may be wrong, but it looks like there could possibly be two eggs attached to the stem of the plant. TFS.
