White water lily belong to Nymphaeaceae a name for a family of flowering plants. Members of this family are commonly called water lilies and live in freshwater areas in temperate and tropical climates around the world. The family contains 8 genera. There are about 70 species of water lilies around the world. Water lilies can be fragrant. Supposed to be an invasive water plant in many parts of the world, it is widely welcomed in Kerala southern state of India. Ponds, lakes and other water bodies with water lily population is a treat to eye. One of the genus Barclaya is sometimes given rank as its own family Barclayaceae on the basis of an extended perianth tube (combined sepals and petals) arising from the top of the ovary and by stamens that are joined basally.
The size of the water lily depends on the size of the water body to an extent, the one in the picture is medium size. |

Ramkumar,
This shot is well framed and demonstrates excellent DOF. I like the little detail of the new bud or leaf just poking out of the water on the right. Great capture.

Bonjour Ramkumar,
Associé à une bonne maîtrise des hautes lumières le cadrage serré valorise bien le sujet.
A bientôt sur TN pour de nouvelles aventures.
