Hi,
Today It's a picture of Indian Roller (Corasias benghalensis) taking off from its perch.
I guess I was lucky to get this shot. Four of us (I, Anil and two other friends) were waiting for the bird to take to its wings and finally when it did , only two of us were lucky to capture it in our frames. I would definitely have preferred a better wing position.... may be next time. :)

I would like to dedicate this picture to Asbed Iskedjian alias Celtic Ranger.

I have always been impressed by his perseverance in capturing inflight shots of small birds. :)

To you, Asbed :)
Regards,
Smitha.

P.S: About Indian Roller, much information has been given about this bird in TN as it is frequently posted by our fellow members from India. For those who are not familiar with this bird, do visit

Hi Smitha,

Really nice one. You have correctly said how difficult it is to frame an airbourne small bird. Especially, this one. I know it from experience. But when you succeed the reward is heartening. Blue streak in the sky.

TFS,

Subhayan.

Hello Smitha,
A fine well-timed in-flight of one of my favourite Indian species of birds.
The take-off position is well shown with excellent colours and sharpness with a nice catch-light in the eye.
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

you did me a very beautiful dedication with the in-flight
shot of the Indian Roller, it is exactly the kind of bird photo
i am loving most today, like this Smitha with out exageration
i have done more that 10 000 - 12 000 clicks on small birds
perched on a tree branch my camera ready waiting for his
take-up to take his flight and to shoot it on photo

i personnally Smitha love the wings pose on this photo
that it is showing to us the flight speed of the bird,
superbly focused with excellent sharpness and details,
the beautiful light coming on the bird and the catch-light
of his eye it is rendering the photo more beautiful
