[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The are 11 species of woodswallow in the world. Though they have a similar triangular shape of wing and fly in the same way as swallows, they are not at all related to swallows and martins but belong to a separate group.
Like swallows, however, they also hunt insects in the air. They tend to be dull-coloured and are about the size of a Common Starling.

Woodswallows are confined to SE Asia and Australia.

We saw a few of these settled on this powerline one morning on the way to a to a wetland area. I took my Zeiss Diascope 85 and Nikon Coolpix and proceeded to take some digiscoped shots at a distance of about 30 meters. On coming closer they became nervous and flew about, waiting for me to retreat before settling again on the powerline.

They have the habit of sitting close together when perched and appear to establish strong pair-bonds, like this pair of Ashy Woodswallows.

The digiscoped original was not sharp owing to the early morning light, but treatment with Photoshop 4 and Neat Image improved this shot to some extent.

Ivan - I like this shot. For a digiscoped shot it I think it is very good. There is a bit of noise and bluriness which I guess is due to the set-up and post processing.

Otherwise a lovely shot. TFS. Phil

Strangely, these birds are new to me, Ivan. Maybe they are confined to the southern penninsula in India.
You have restored the picture quite effectively in view of your note. Neat Image has this tendency to flatten the details, in my opinion.
All the same, it is a charming image and the theme of strong bonding between these birds is more than manifest in their posture.
TFS.
