Ivan has helped me in identifying this species.I thank him very much for his praise worthy comments.

Its Tailed Jay (Graphium agamemnon) is a predominantly green and black tropical butterfly that belongs to the swallowtail family. The butterfly is also called Green Spotted Triangle, Tailed Green Jay or the Green Triangle. It is a common, non-threatened species native to India, Sri Lanka through Southeast Asia and into Australia.

Once found primarily close to wooded country where there is a fairly heavy rainfall, the Tailed Jay is now very common at low elevations and regularly seen in gardens and urban areas due to its foodplant, Polyalthia longifolia (False Ashoka or Mast Tree), being widely used as an ornamental tree.

Strong and restless fliers, they are very active butterflies and flutter their wings constantly even when at flowers. They are seldom seen drinking from damp patches. The males are particularly fond of feeding from flowers such as Lantana, Ixora, Mussaenda and Poinsettia. The females are more likely caught when looking for foodplants or laying eggs.

Tailed Jays are active throughout the year but their abundance depends upon the local monsoon and availability of the larval host plants. The butterflies generally fly among the tree-tops but descend to ground level in search of flowers or host plants. Because of their relatively fast life cycle (just over one month from egg to adult), Tailed Jays are multivoltine and may produce up to 7–8 broods per year.

Hello Pankaj,
Fine portrait of Graphium agamemnon, though with the facing light one doesn't see the pattern on the undersides of the wings of this species of Swallowtail.
This shot is sharp with fine BG, though I might cropped it to omit the flower on the extreme right.
Your note refers to The European Swallowtail, P. machaon. This species has an Asiatic distributuion.
TFS, best wishes, Ivan

Hello Pankaj,
Beautiful shot! Very sharp on the blutterfly and I like the light coming through the wing and showing up the bright green colour. I like the background very much too but would have cut away the flower on the right.
TFS, Ulla

Hello Pankaj,
brilliant colours due to the 'penetrating' light and good sharpness of G. agamemnon, arestless species which is rarely seen entirely intact. The point of view is optimal. Considering composition, I would prefer to see a little bit more of the flower the butterfly is sitting on and less of the flower to the right (as Ivan also argued). In particular, you unfortunately included the background to the right which appears to show much higher noise than that on the left. Perhaps, I will try a workshop later.
Best wishes, Peter

Pankaj,
great colors here,
I like the framing,

Hi Pankaj,
you have captured a beautiful butterfly, the colours are very nice. Maybe I had cropped it in a different way like Peter did in the WS, but that me.
The POV and DOF is good too.
Well done.

Witaj Pankaj!
Jakby motylek usiadl odrotnie, to by bylo ok.
Pozdrawiam i gratuluje tak dobrej fotki - Roma

Hi Pankaj

What a wonderful shot of this beautiful Butterfly, the details are nice and sharp and the colours are just beautiful with great lighting.

TFS Hilary :o)

Hi Pankaj,
Very neat image. Very aesthetic image, perhaps -IMHO- too much space allocated at right side [behind the butterfly]; however, as we all know that composition is just a matter of taste.
Nice shot and nice PP works.

Hi Pankaj

Congrats on an excellent shot. Well composed, good clear detail, tack sharp and nicely saturated colour. :-)

Wonderful capture, Pankaj. It is a matter of great satisfaction to see you locating and shooting exotic butterflies of India in Raipur. The picture is technically immaculate. Well done!

Hi Pankaj

The is really a great macro shot and the composition here in very interesting.
I rather like new ideas in composing and framing a certain subject so i honestly prefer your original photo that the more casual one in the WS.
The colors are wonderful and the lighting impecable, the POV is excellent and the DOF spot-on.
Very well done!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Pankaj,
I love those lovely green colors on the wings of this "Tailed Jay". The exposure, sharpness and the colors are very good.
WRT to composition proably i would not left a huge space behind the butterfly, but its more of a personal taste.

Hello Pankaj,
a very powerful and dynamical presentation!
Hard to capture that restless flyer.
Perfect details, I very much like the transparency of wings, and the arrangement of blossoms and butterfly is very artistic.
Thank you!
Best regards,
Peter
