While hunting for the butterflies shots a very small insect caught my attention. I am not sure if its a moth or a butterfly . This insect was so small just little bigger then the butterflies from blue family.

The starnge thing about this insect was that it used to rest with its head facing towards the earth. I observed its sitting pattern at couple of places and all the time it rested with head down position only. Another thing observed was that it was fluttreing the wings very fast while resting.

Inspite of not so good image quality due to poor lighting and odd position I posted this image as I have never seen this kind of fly/moth.

If any friend at tn is aware of the species Kindly guide.

Hi Pankaj,
This is really strange but beautiful.
Nice colors and deails.
Well done.
TFS

Its head is turned so acutely I can see one of its antennae sticking out at the rear, Pankaj. I can also make out that it is hanging upside-down like a bat.
Nature's mysteries are truly beyond human comprehension.
Hope some expert identifies this creature for us.
Warm regards,
Ram

Hello Pankaj
What an interesting coloured butterfly. I guess by hiding under a leaf he won't be easily seen by predators. Detail is good despite his wings are moving. Your notes are interesting.

Hello Pankaj,
a beautiful capture of this moth showing its delicate colour patterns very well. The light is well managed too. I think it is not easy to identify the species. Probably, it belongs to the family Pyralidae of the so-called Microlepidoptera which include species by far much smaller than this one. At first glance, I thought it is a Geometridae-species. I'm not sure and can't help very much.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Pankaj,
Sorry I can not help with the ID. You have captured a nice unique pose that shows the underside colors and patterns on the wings very well. Good sharp detail. Looks great!

Hello Pankaj,
a very funny pose, but it reveals the underside of the butterfly really well. The picture is a bit noisy, but I think you made a great image. Best wishes, JAcob

Hi Pankaj,
To my wild guess, this is a kind of moth. Well shown in natural settings. Interesting markings and transparency on wings.

Hello Pankaj,
What a fascinating shot of the underside of this moth. It looks so fragile in this beautiful light. Nice details and colours and I like the composition very much.
