Hi all,

This is another POV of Jewel Beetle from OMKAR hills. I got this shot by using my Tamaron 2X MC7 tele-converter with my 180 mm macro lens, by doing so I went into an other dimension with respect to details and I liked the outcome

As mentioned yesterday’s post this is jewel beetle. The jewel beetles or metallic wood-boring beetles are a family (Buprestidae) of beetles known for their glossy iridescent colors. The family is among the largest of the beetles, with some 15,000 species known in 450 genera. The larger and more spectacularly colored jewel beetles are highly prized by insect collectors.
Shape is generally cylindrical or elongate to ovoid, with lengths ranging from 3 mm to an impressive 100 mm, although most species are under 20 mm. A variety of bright colors are known, often in complicated patterns. The irridiscence common to these beetles is not due to pigments in the exoskeleton, but instead physical irridescence in which microscopic texture in their cuticle selectively reflects specific frequencies of light in particular directions. This is the same effect that makes a compact disc reflect multiple colors.
The larva bore through roots, logs, stems, and leaves of various types of plants, ranging from trees to grasses. The wood boring types generally favor dying or dead branches on otherwise-healthy trees, while a few types attack green wood; some of these are serious pests capable of killing trees and causing major economic damage.

Hi Goutham,
un autre point de vue pour le même sujet, toujours aussi réussi.
Les détails sont splendides, permettant de voir sa tête d'un autre âge.

HI Goutham,
the details on the head and antennea are great, the shallow DOF works well here. Lovely colours and good compo.
WEll done.

bonjour goutham
la tête est parfaitement dans la mise au point mais je trouve le DOF assez limité malgres le reglage du diaphragme a f/8,il il a aussi du bruit residuel sur le BG.

Goutham,

Amazing close up.

Mind-blowing details of the face of the insect in this super macro, Goutham. You used a tele-converter here, but how does it work? Could you please teach me?
I am simply amazed at the capabilities of photo equipment one can use these days.

Ram

Hello Goutham !
Another splendid picture of this buprestid beetle! And a very nice portrait! I like the POV and DOF with a really interesting and good details on the head.
I do not know how big was this specimen (probably less that 15 mm) but I know how difficult is to do a good portrait of insect. My congratulations! :)

Radomir

Wow! What a great extreme close-up you achieved Goutham!! This is a very different subject and distinctive pov! Superb details on the face, i'm very surprised to see a beetle from this pov with these details! Superb post and you should take your objective to aim these different creatures. You know i like your butterfly shots very very much but i'm very willing to see your photography skill on the other creatures like this one too.
Thank you for sharing this amazing shot!

Btw, just now i read your critique to one of my post in the past and you said "how is it going with your new job?" i can say very busy and stressed. These days i'm working from the morning to the midnight. i'm not dissappointed, i got lots of new experiences about my profession and have a chance to English practicing also. On the other hand i'm very tired and no time to my hobbies. So hope in the future i have a time to my enjoy.

Warm greetings,
Ersin
