[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is one of my favorite images shot last year at Kanha . The hard hoofed Barasingha ( Swamp Deer) story from Kanha is one of the great successes from the Indian Jungles. From a Population of 66 in the 1970's to about 350, has pulled it out from the Brink of extinction. The department is now considering to reintroduce some animals in their previous range.

I took this image in January which is the rutting season & was rewarded with many images of males displaying. The swathes of grass on the antlers are part of this display.

This partiular male crossed our path early in the morning & went strolling in the meadow, stopping to add to hs hairdo & bugling his presence to any pretentious usurper.

This is one of those images which has many interpreations so i have many versions & am confused as to which one i like better.

Hi Badruddin,
I can understand why you like this one so much as it has a wonderful soft emotion to it.The deer with its back to us and slowly fading into the bright light emphasises that this wonderful animal is walking into a new future.Well done and TFS.

A lovely composition with the early soft hazy light. The shot does indeed have a thousand words.

Hello Badruddin,
Excellent posting, I love the mood that this capture portrays.
Thanks for sharing with us.

Very interesting shot Badruddin,

It is a magical photograph, the light is exquisite, obviously shooting directly into it has caused some haziness but that ADDS to the shot immensely.
For some reason I am reminded of Gladiator when Russell Crowe is in his field of corn...no come to think of it this shot could be deer heaven!
The tuft of grass in his antlers is great.

Great stuff
