[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The bird in the photo is Black Drongo. it's a slim and agile glossy black birdwith long deeply forked tail. It's a familiar bird of open country usually perched on telegraph wires. from exposed look outs it keeps vigilant watch for insects like grasshoppers.these are pounced upon and carried off, held under foot, torn to pieces and swallowed. This bird is considered as highly beneficial to agricultureby the vast quantities of harmful insects it destroys.

I came across this bird in the paddyfield behind my home. it was busy having its little snack so didn't mind me taking his snaps.

This is a classic shot, Smitha!
I am deeply impressed with the improvement in your skills as a nature photographer. Keep it going!
The picture is:
1. Perfectly focused on the subject.
2. The natural light has been used very effectively, highlighting certain portions on the bird's body and giving the wooden perch a three dimensional look.
3. The blurred BG has a lovely tone that suits the subject.
4. The overall composition is just perfect with the subject placed diagonally across the frame.
5. The colours are very natural and hence beautiful.
6. Simple framing keeps the attention focused on the subject.

As Ram already said it all!
Lovely image!

Excellent critique from Ram!

In idiot's terms, I like the slant of the bird, the black stands out beautifully in this image, bisecting the frame. His wee perch is in perfect focus as well - great composition with all relevant areas in clear detail and a well-blurred background. Super image.

Hi Smitha,

Wonderful capture of a bird I have never seen. I love the pose and the food in his mouth. This black bird stands out so well against the BG.

Hi Smitha,
You must be living in a paradise as you get to shoot these gems near to your home , I’ll trade anything for a place (joking) like that
Great shot, the position of the bird, which is placed diagonally, and the feed in its beak is amazing.

Hello Smitha,
Fine capture of a Black Drongo sharply presented in an excellent composition with fine Bg: you can just see itw white 'beauty spot' behind the bill, that differs it from other drongos.
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

Smitha,

Lovely composition of Drongo with the feed. The seating position and sideways pose brings out the complete details of the bird. The feed adds interest to the subject. Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
