Tropical Rainforest

Taken from foothill of Gunung Meja, Manokwari, Irian Jaya Barat. Just to show how dense this tropical rainforest is. This dense natural forest is situated in valley surrounded by a horseshoe-shape highland. At BG, it is shilhouette of mountain on the other side.

I include a cloud in this image, to give an idea on altitude of the mountainous area in this region. My guesstimate, the altitude should be around 2,000 meters above sea level.

This is the view over top of forest canopy, and I will post another shot to show how it look like from under forest canopy. Then, I will share with you some of interesting plant species that I encounter in this area, including orchids.

Lovely rain forest atmosphere well captured!
I love the hazy background almost hiding the mountains, and that fluffy white cloud is a nice element in this attractive composition!

Hi Ben!

Another great piece of paradise. Very dense and green forest, I bet it is also very moist. Beautifull landscape. I think you used too strong compression - look at artifacts around trees.

This is a very interesting place. How many nature's treasures could be hiding in there. This is a very nice POV and composition. There is something a bit strange though about this picture and I can't tell exactly what it is... Maybe it is as Red45 said... Nice picture anyway with great colors and interesting notes. Thanks,
