A fly on young cycad leaf [as it was captured]

I saw this fly on a nice young cycad leaf. [Now, it is rainy season in Indonesia, some plants start to generate their new leaves] This young leaf has very clean surface, since it has been washed by rain.

This time I took the shot with aperture priority program, set at f/8 [Thanks to TN friends for suggesting me to use a slightly deeper DoF – camera and macro lens I used tend to set automatically at shallower DoF]. The rests were automatically adjusted by camera –this smart gadget set speed at 1/80 second and selected ISO 400 for compensating smaller aperture I set, slower speed to capture more lights and higher ISO to increase sensor sensitivity. No flash used, taken at midday but under cloudy sky.

I am happy with the result. Picture that you see here is as it was captured. No sharpening, no USM applied, no color adjustment, no cropping, no other PP works, except resizing to fit TN requirements and adding my name on the image.

Hello Benyamin !
Wow, what a beautiful picture ! I love the pattern and the vivid color of the leaf, makes a wonderful BG. Also a splendid composition and excellent details on the fly. I really like the matallic color of the insect. Congratulations !
Valerie.

hi ben,
no perfect details, otherwise, good work.

hi mario

Goes to prove how modern gadgetary leads us by the nose nowadays, Ben :-)!
Sorry, I'm joking. This is the product of a well-chosen setting, leading to a perfect image needing no effort to improve it at PP stage. The different colours on the fly are clearly delineated and the focus is so very accurate there is no need for any sharpening.
Well done and thanks.

Selamat sore Benyamin,
the fresh green colour and the light produce a beautiful atmosphere. The fly is the focus and it's just placed in the centre of the picture with pretty good sharpness. The leaf structures divide the picture in 2 unequal parts and, thus, the centred position of the fly is not really recognized.
A well composed and beautifully coloured picture.
Best wishes, Peter

Hi Ben.
You have excellent set of equipment: Sony A100 and Sony 100 F2.8 Macro. This lens (I mean its predecessor KM AF 100 F2.8 Macro (D)), on opinion of many experts, is the best macro lens among all systems. Its opportunities are almost boundless. Despite of phenomenal opportunities of Sony's system of stabilization it is necessary to use a tripod or monopod at macro shooting. This is very important for crisp sharpness of images. Then results will be fantastic on true.

Your shot is well detailed, colorful (with nice delicate colour palette), its sharpness is good. With wishes of a lot of nice macro shots,
Yours Alexei.

Hello Ben,
This is a simple subject with excellent POV, composition, exposure and details! I like those nice colors and the brilliance of the fly. This is well seen and well done. Thanks,
