Lake Sentarum National Park consists of seasonal lakes, streams, freshwater swamps, peatland, heath and dryland dipterocarp forests. The region is rich in biodiversity and one of precious tropical peat forming habitat. This interior peat (about 650 Km from the coast) has been formed since 30,000 yrs BP (radio Carbon dates).
