[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have always been a huge admirer of Ansel Adams' work, and whilst exploring an area of forest in Bali, I found this gorge banking covered in an intertwining selection of vines, ferns etc - and immediately thought I could try and imitate the master with a black and white image of this fascinating array of forest plantlife.

Conversion to monochrome was using channel mixer - 20% red for a slight boost but 80% green to accentuate the foliage seemed to be a nice balance. Slight levels tweak and that was it.

ps it was extremely gloomy in the forest and I was tripod-less (you try lugging a tripod around tropical forests!), thus the forced high ISO - I don't think the effect is too bad, a little grain almost adds to it!

I hope you like it - thanks for looking. Doug

hello Doug,
This black and white picture is really well composed. The different tones of greys and blacks well handled. I understand why you have a great admiration for Ansel Adam's work.
May be the contrast could be slightly stronger.
Thanks for this special posting
Anne
