[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Back from a trip to the large Indonesian island Sulawesi, I would like to present some of its unique creatures.
Sulawesi constitutes the major part of a particular zoogeographical unit, called Wallacea, which separates the Oriental from the Australian Region.
Sulawesi has a high proportion of endemic species which surmounts more than 50% of species for many taxonomic units.

Here I show a species which is, however, widespread throughout Indonesia and the Philippines and occurs eastwards to Papua and the Solomon Islands.

Its name is
- Ideopsis juventa which belongs to the
- family: Danaidae
and is thus a relative of the monarch (Danaus plexippus) and the plain tiger (Danaus chrysippus).
Wing span of juventa: about 70 mm.

Soon, I will show further Danaidae species from Sulawesi.

Location
Porabua - a small village in the vast mountaineous and rain forest covered region north of the line Kolaka - Kendari (Indonesia, Southeast-Sulawesi).

Conditions
- natural late afternoon light
- no wind
- handheld

Hi Peter.
It is truth. Your absence was long enough. However, we'll see many amazing Indonesian shots from you, I suppose.

Great picture taken at very impressive POV. I like pose of the butterfly. DOF, sharpness and details of the insect are excellent. I like wonderful soft lighting and perfect reproduction of butterfly colouration. Fresh green surrounding create an amazing BG for the beauty. My best wishes and TFS.
