[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]
During our walk in the forest monkeys in Ubud, a butterfly landed near us. I did not resist photographing it. I do not know if the slots in the wings are morphological ... Since they are symmetrical, I think so. Thank you for helping me Peter! Thanks for the ID Junonia iphita.

The Chocolate Pansy or Chocolate Soldier (Junonia iphita) is a butterfly found in Asia.

It is about 5-6 cm in wingspan and the female can be told apart from the male by white markings on the oblique line on the underside of the hind wing. The wavy lines on the underside of the wings vary from wet to dry season forms.

Individuals maintain a territory and are usually found close to the ground level and often bask in the sun.(Wiki)

Have a nice day

Hi Brigitte,

Beautiful macro capture of this adorable butterfly! The colors are very nicely shown with crisp sharpness and taken from a great POV. The shallow DOF works nicely in this case. In addition, the textures on the wings of the butterfly, are well defined and greatly shown. The colors of the butterfly give great contrast to the blurred green BG. The picture is bit OE but overall, it works fine. Well done!

thanks and regards,
Paras Bhalla

PS: Please accept my apologies for not helping you in identifying this species, as I am not familiar with different (unusual) kinds of butterflies species.

Hello Brigitte,
this is the butterfly Junonia iphita from the family Nymphalidae.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Brigitte,
Peter was kind enough to give you the correct ID!
You took this butterfly in difficult lighting that gave a fine dark BG but led to exposure problems The compoisition and POV are great but I have tried the WS: i hope you don't mind!
Thanks and have a good weekend,
Ivan

Bonjour Brigitte
Passe a bon WE

Beautiful close crop, Brigitte. I like the full spreading wings captured in shallow focus. Fine wings markings and TFS.
