Ive just returned from a 3 week holiday in Indonesia, where we took a trip over to Bali, Flores and Rinca, plus a couple of smaller islands nearby.
This is one of the Komodo dragons we saw on the island of Rinca, at about 9am. It was so hot there that we started our trek onto the island at 7:30 am, by 9:30 we we so hot we couldnt carry on, it was well above 35C, with little shelter.
Ive never been enthralled with these dragons in captivity, but must say that I was totally blown away by seeing them in the wild. We saw about 20 dragons in all, a few solitary, and a larger group near the rangers huts. We even saw one in a tree - which I will post soon.
I will post more info regarding the dragons with my next photo as Im still shattered after a 36 hour journey home. |
