Danaus genutia
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
This is a picture of a pair of Danaus genutia (Nymphlidae, Danainae) taken at Ahilulu, a small village located in the mountains of South-East Sulawesi (Sul. Tenggara), Indonesia. Butterflies of the family Danaidae are often poisonous and therefore not palatable.
The picture was taken in the shadow of big rain forest trees in the late afternoon, that means under sub-optimal light conditions in the tropics. No flash and no tripod was used, the couple resting in some distance above my head.
NOTE: This is a picture shown peviously and it is RE-POSTED here as a result of a workshop that brought up wrong parameter settings of my computer screen when I prepared the picture for TrekNature so that it appeared largely over-exposed.
Thanks again to Nigel (Merlin) and Monika (thistle) who helped to solve the problem by their critical comments and proposals.
