Today something a little bit different. I just came back from Japan. I spent one week in Sapporo. I didn’t have time and opportunities for nature photos. Sapporo is a big city. But when I was in a Sapporo Botanic Garden I managed to take some photos of insects. Here you can see the photo of Sympetrum infuscatum (I hope that my ID is correct) I have seen this species also on the city streets, flying on the side walks and between the cars. In my WS here you can see another POV. I hope you like it.

Dragonflies in Japan
In ancient times, Japanese farmers believed the dragonfly was the spirit of the rice plant. Dragonflies were a welcome sign of a good rice harvest. Dragonflies were also believed to bring good luck in battle. About 1600 years ago, the dragonfly was the symbol of a great Japanese warrior clan. The dragonfly later became one of the emblems of the emperor. An old name for Japan - Akitsu-shimu - means Dragonfly Island. The dragonfly is praised in many Japanese poems and songs.

Sapporo is the fifth-largest city in Japan by population. It is the capital of Hokkaidō Prefecture, located in Ishikari Subprefecture, and an ordinance-designated city of Japan

Hej,
Witaj w kraju kwitnacego ziemniaka :-) Fajne zwierze. POV, swiatlo, ostrosc i detal bez zarzutu, tylko glebia ostrosci cokolwiek zbyt duza - az mnie dziwi ze przyslona byla 3.2 bo te roze wyszly zbyt wyraznie i robia niepotrzebny szum w tle.
Serdecznosci,
Michal

P.S. Rozumiem, ze Akitsu-shimu to wazka po japonsku...

what a fine capture of the pretty dragonfly! :-) details and sharpness are really great,
love the roses in the background adding a wonderful red. well done & best wishes, thor.

Bonjour Krzysztof,
A somehow different shot of usual dragonflypictures. The special colors make a kind of painting enhancing the beauty of this golden dragonfly. A most beautiful picture. Interesting note too.
Take care
Anne

Hej,

bardzo dobra fotka, ostrość 1wsza klasa. Kolory świetne.
Ja bym tylko troszkę poucinał z góry ale to już drobiazg.

Czesc Krzysiek!

Odpowiednie zdjecie ilustrujace opowiesc.

Hello Krzys,
We don't see much from Japan altough I'm sure there is much to see of wildlife there too! You managed to capture this fine dragonfly very well indeed! I like both images, showing side and upper views. Excellent sharpness and colours and a fine rose too!! The dark tips of the wings makes it look very beautiful and different from our dragons.
Many thanks and best wishes, Ulla
