[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the forests and parks in and around Sendai this plant is very frequent. It is one of the few visible
flowering plants I saw in early spring. It grows as scrubs and bushes of up to 3 meters there. It is also seen as a garden plant but this one was photographed at the edge of a forest in its natural environment.

It is named (by Linne) to the honour a jesuit missionary and natural scientist, Georg Joseph Kamel, who lived in the 17th century and studied the flora of the Phillipines. The flower has various symbolic meanings. At Korean weddings camellias are said to represent longevity and faithfulness.

I like the focus and the subject, but feel there is too much blue in the foliage.
I'll post a workshop to show a variation.
