[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Blossoms are a common sign of spring around the world. I'm not sure they are celebrated as fiercly anywhere as is Japan. According to some historical accounts the celebration of the plum blossoms (ume) was adapted from China, but has morphed in the celebration of the cherrys blossoms as a symbol of Japan.

Here both are pictured -- the pink plum blossoms in the foreground and white cherry blossoms in the background.
