[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the Mt. Asahi volcano ("Asahi-dake" in Japanese) in Daisetsuzan (or Taisetsuzan) National Park. It is one of the highest mountains in Japan (the tallest on Hokkaido) and, as you can see, still active volcanically. It is fairly accessible. It's just a matter of a train and bus from Sapporo, and then a chairlift ("ropeway") to just below this point. Give yourself another hour and you can walk your way to the top of the mountain.

This was a beautiful fall day. A few minutes earlier the whole area was burried in a cloud. But after I got on top, things magically cleared for the remainder of my stay. (Hey it was a great fall in Sapporo for that matter, maybe I can take credit for that, too!)

This is straight out of the camera.

P.S. Heavy duty vulcanologists will want to look at this photo, too.

Hello Mike,
Great shot, nice detail and nice reflection. Might have been nice to have a wider angle with the waterline central to add more balance, just my preference though!
Great work,
Adrian

Wow another very dramatic landscape love the colours and the reflection helps add even more interest to the photo
