Red Pika (Ochotona rutila) in moult, eating herbs.
This photo was taken near the artifical lake about 40 km souths of Almaty in the mountains. Pikas are cavy-like, related to hares and rabbits, but a separate family with ca. 30 species, mainly distributed in Central Asia. Two species living in North America, and two species reach to the eastern margin of Europe, the Ural mountains and Ural river.

Lieber Klaus,
Dieter

Hello Klaus,
A belated welcome to TN!
Nice capture of a mammal not seen before on TN! Well scanned to show us a fine pose while feeding with good sharpness and in a pleasing composition in a natural environment.
Thanks for sharing this one,
Regards, Ivan
