Hi Folks,
I am posting here a shot of a weaver ant (genus Oecophylla)carrying her beheaded comrade....:) Perhaps from a fight....heheheh.
The picture here confirms the description I excerpted from the net for your further info.
Weaver ants are social insects belonging to the ant family, known for their communication and nest building behaviour. Weaver ants are social insects that have complex bio-chemical communication and make elaborate nests out of living tree-leaves. Weaver ants are found in the tropical forests of Africa, Australia and southeast Asia. They may be colored a shade of red, although those found in North Queensland, Australia, are yellow-brown, with a bright green bulb at the tail, hence the common name "Green Tree Ant". This species is known for its painful, irritating bite.
Thanks for viewing, Folks. I hope you enjoyed your weekend.Agoes |

Hello Agoes and welcome on TN!
As I see a new fan of entomology was appeared on TN! Great! :)
There are only a few good pictures of ants on TN so this one is a very nice contribution on this web site.
I like "moment" and general composition. Also DOF and details are ok as for me.
Hope to see soon some more interesting insects from Asia thanks to your pictures :)
Best greetings,
Radomir
