Parthenos sylvia lilacinus

Captured in Penang Butterfly Farm.

The Clipper (Parthenos sylvia) is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South and South-East Asia. It is species found mostly in forested areas. The Clipper is a fast flying butterfly and has a habit of flying with its wings flapped stiffly between the horizontal position and a few degrees below the horizontal. It may glide between spurts of flapping.

Hello Jusni,

just marking,
Mariki

Abang Jusni,
Fine image of the Clipper with good closeup!
the texture and pattern on the butterfly is really beautiful in good sharpness, colour and details
well done
best regards
Tony

Hello Jusni,

Nice butterfly image.
Good composition with diagonal lines of the wings and body, although I personally would have cropped a small part of the left side to loose the darker spots overthere.
The image is a little over exposed though and therefore the details, especially at the leaf are not that well visible anymore.
I did rework the image a little in PS. Hope you like it.

Best regards, Harry

Maybe your ISO was a bit too high for this shot, Jusni. I guess the butterfly is perched on the broad green leaf but the colour of the leaf has turned faint in this capture.
Other than that, details and colours on this butterfly's open wings are quite okay.
TFS.
Ram

Hello Jusi,

Your shot clearly shows the beauty of the repeating pattern on the butterfly's wings.
Excellent sharp image and natural colours.
I like the diagonal composition!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jusni,
The flash has probably caused a little OE but the pose and composition are excellent in this portrayal of a Blue Clipper and it contrasts well against the banana leaf. As this was taken on the island of Penang I assume you took this at the butterfly house but if you took this in the wild, all the better!
Thanks for sharing this beauty,
Ivan

Salam akhi Jusni
I was in field study again. Therefore, I couldnt visit your last posts, sorry. This is very very beautiful butterfly species. Its macro is also great. Nicely composed. Great POV, details, superb colors. Thanks for sharing. best wishes my dear friend
Ahmet

Hi Jusni, not your best shot but a wonderfull butterfly, thanks to show us this beauty,Luciano

The Nikon does its service well for your trained eye. I use much of the same but not Adobe, Corel new Paint Pro and it might be comparing apples and oranges to some but it is the one I grew up with when JASC wrote it for free many years ago...I did some beta testing on it way back.

It was not at first apparent whether it was bright sun or flash until I read EXIF. Nikon s flash is at best mediocre...but it5 is the camera, not the person taking the image...I try so hard not to use flash because it is so unpredictable but at times, I must...such is life and I certainly am not going to spend 400 dollars for a special hot shoe Nikon flash...Well seen!

Hi Jusni,

A very nice capture of this beautiful butterfly. I love the colors and markings of the wings. Wonderful pov to show off how nicely it is shaped.

Jane

Bellissima immagine, elegante composizione, buona nitidezza e molto belli i colori delicati di tipo pittorico. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio

Hallo Jusni
Although I find this image a bit light this is a beautiful specie butterfly. The markings, patterns and soft colours are delightful and quite stunning. I like aerial view in which way you presented the butterfly with its wings opened. This way one can appreciate and admire the patterns in full. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day.
Kind regards
Anna

Hi Jusni,
A very well composed shot of this very beautiful and colorful butterfly. you chose a very fine BG too. The glistening surface of the leaf is making the picture look a little overexposed. Also the butterfly wings look a little blurry though the rest of the picture, like the details on the leaf are pretty sharp...is it the natural pattern on the butterfly's wings that naturally is blurry?

Overall a great shot.

Salam Jus,
I dont want to think of how you get those butterflies/moths shots. I was thinking that without having trying we will not get the opportunities.
Having tried you delve yourself into one-way ticket into satisfaction.
That is what we called a real hobby.

Regards,
Foozi.
