Hello Des,
An excellent macro of a ly taken from a fine frontal POV with excellent sharpness to show the eyes and fluid bubble coming from the mouth with good clarity. The spotted wings and thorax suggest that this is a species of fly belonging to the Tephritidae family.
Thanks and best wishes,
Ivan

What a fantastic macro, Des.
The frontal view is excellent, with amazing sharpness of details.
The colors are quite beautiful, and unusual for a fly.
The liquid orb in the mouth is quite fascinating indeed.
I would love to know what that is.
TFS. : )
