Hello friends in TN,

I have one Painted Jezebel in my collection before but the quality is not too good. This one perched rather decent under reasonable lighting. Thanks for viewing.

Painted Jezebel Delias hyparete metarete (Butler 1879)

Description : The Painted Jezebel is white above, with the veins dusted in the outer areas. The female is more heavily dusted with black than the male. The basal half of the underside of the hindwing is bright yellow and the termen has a bright red marginal border. The veins are dusted with black.

Habitat & habits : This species occurs commonly throughout Malaysia and is seen in urban areas as well as within forested areas. It usually flies at treetop level, frolicking amongst the canopies of tall trees. Its restless flight is interrupted only when it descends to feed at flowering shrubs.

Other Observations : It is believed that the brightly coloured underside serves as a warning pattern to predatory animals.

Early Stages : The caterpillar is yellow and hairy. During the early instars, the caterpillars feed in groups. The pupa is yellow with shining black spots.

Hello Jusni,
This butterfly is one of my favourites and you've captured it in a fine pose here. Lovely details and colours against the green background and very well composed.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

hello Jusni,

This is such an appropriate name for this butterfly - it does look as if it has been painted!
Lovely details and colours and nicely presented against the green b/g.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Even thought the photo is a bit blurred, it is still a very
nice picture, beautiful colors and very nice close up...
Well done

Everton

focus seems a little soft, but this has some wonderful colors

Hi Jusni,
Great colors. Yes I would agree that it's a little blurred however it's and excellent shot of a beautiful creature.

Hi,

On the road now and just marking now, will be back later...

Pekka

The colours of this beautiful butterfly are so magnificent that the beat way to bring them out would've been a nice dull BG.In this case, you've made that dull BG beautiful ,too.
Very well done, Jusni!

Hello Jusni, very good frame filling shot of this Painted Jezebel. The composition is very good with great colour. I don't think the focus was bad but I thought the shot could use a little adjustment in local contrast and sharpening to make the butterfly "pop" a little more. This is something you might want to play a bit with yourself but take a copy of this and apply USM (15, 20, 0), the smart sharpen (60, .3, for lens blur), and play around a bit with the numbers on both.

Thanks, John

hello Jusni

another beutiful butterfly shot with his wonderful colours,
with fine POV, lovely softness of the composition,
with excellent sharpness and details, TFS

Hello Jusni,

This is a colourful little fellow!
A fine composition, and the macro work is well done with fine details in the subject while the background is nicely blurred to enhance the insect...

Greetings,
Pablo -

What a colourful butterfly this Painted Jezebel is. It is a little soft / unsharp Jusni, but the colours are very pretty

Hi Jusni,

A nice macro image of the butterfly on the leave, the point of view is showing the details and colors of the insect. I think a little extra of USM would help. The subject is well frame. Have a nice day.

Salam Jus,
