Hello friends in TN.

Pitcher Plant aka Monkey Pot

Pitcher plants are carnivorous plants whose prey-trapping mechanism features a deep cavity filled with liquid known as a pitfall trap. It has been widely assumed that the various sorts of pitfall trap evolved from rolled leaves, with selection pressure favouring more deeply cupped leaves over evolutionary time. However, some pitcher plant genera (such as Nepenthes) are placed within clades consisting mostly of flypaper traps: this indicates that this view may be too simplistic, and some pitchers may have evolved from flypaper traps by loss of mucilage.

The fruit of two South American trees (Lecythis Ollaria, and Lecythis Zabucajo), which have for their fruit large, pot-shaped, woody capsules containing delicious nuts, and opening almost explosively by a circular lid at the top. Vases and pots are made of this capsule.

You caption to the picture suggests it is a blessing for a monkey to lay its hands on this 'pot' because it is filled with nuts, isn't it, Jusni?
I wonder about its size, though. How large is it?
I like the shape of it and the way you have captured it. The intensely green ambience makes one think of dense tropical forests where nature abounds in all forms.
Your picture in unique and very interesting in that sense.
Thanks and regards.
Ram

hello Jusni

and details and the colours and the background are giving

Hi Jusni,
After school days where Biology lessons included Pitcher plant studies, it has been a long time...and this is apleasant surprise to see the same in such a rich green environment.I like the way you have captured it with precision and focus ..I am wondering what is the role of that strand like feature seen in the picture...good colours making it a very nice presentation ...thanks and cheers

I think what I enjoy most about your posts...is that nobody else has ever heard of many things you picture....your country is amazing and full of natural wonders..and they are so lucky to have YOU there to take these in high quality. Very neat discovery...My mind is so full I cannot image how many new things could fit.....but I will find room.
Bob
