Hello friends in TN,

With wing span measuring 3-4cm, this Common Five-ring butterfly is greyish brown on the upperside with a large sub-apical ocellus on the forewings. On the reverse side of its pale buff brown undersurfaces with fine dark striations, you can spot a large yellow-ringed black ocellus on each of the forewings. And, on the underside of each hindwing will prominently feature five smaller rings (eyespots), with the pair of rings at the tornus counted as one. It is this total number of rings counted that give this butterfly its common name.

It has a feeble flight and usually found close to the ground.

Taxonomy:

* Scientific name: Ypthima baldus newboldi
* Common name: Common 5-ring
* Kingdom: Animalia
* Phylum: Arthropoda
* Class: Insecta
* Order: Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths)
* Family: Nymphalidae
* Subfamily: Satyrinae
* Genus: Ypthima
* Species: Y. baldus newboldi

Salam Jusni,

I saw eight rings here (four on each wing)! :)
Good captured and TFS.

best regards,
/Redzlan/.

Ypthima is a scarce species of butterflies, Jusni. I had the fortune of shooting one more than two years ago. It was a tattered specimen.
Your picture of this butterfly is very good. Those big and small eye-spots are the beauty marks of this otherwise dull looking butterfly and you have captured them very well.
Thanks and regards.

erhaba Jusni,bulnduğu ortamda kamufle olmayı gözleri sayesinde pek becerememiş.Çok ilginç bir kelebek,sen de iyi çekmişsin,ellerinie sağlık,selamlar :)

Hello Jusni,
A fine open-wing capture of Y. baldus taken from a great POV with good sharpness and lighting. Pity this well-composed image is rather small though.
TFS this beauty,
Regards,
Ivan

Hello Jusni

A very nciely composed shot here I like the angle of the wings here, nice off central shot with good detail and natural colours.

TFS regards Helen

I simply love the way you do your notes...Horia does it somewhat this way as well..You must have a template set up to do it..Would you mind sharing?;-) Very nice image..I have did a bob adjustment which simply means nothing..:-)
Bob

Good shot Jusni, I like the comp and POV of the inner wings.
Nearly monochromatic except for that bit of yellow leaf right side..
The sharpening in the WS has helped in your web presentation.

Hi Jusni.
Very attractive scene which demonstrate the skill of camouflage. You have reflected the colouration of the butterfly wings and surroundings very well. I like POV. Wingspread of the insect and composition of the image. My best wishes and ,any thanks for kindness. I am OK however I have not enough time for TN.
Alexei.

Assalamaualikum Jusni,
an almost camouflaged subject.
Well hidden on the ground, in reality you will not notice it.
but here the two big eyes are really outstanding.
Lovely composition anf of great clarity against thre similar background.

regards,
Foozi
