[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all, another flower photo from me this time. After searching the net for a while, I finally figured out that this flower is the flower of the Cannon Ball Tree --> Couroupita guanensis.

Origin from Tropical South America. It is popular in botanic gardens and a few larger private gardens because of its bizarre fruit. It is a very tall tree which sheds its large, elliptical leaves several times a year. The pinkish-red flowers grow directly from the trunk near the base of the crown and are strongly scented in the evening. Blooms year round. Flowers are followed by large, globular fruit, reddish-brown in colour, which do indeed resemble cannonballs and remain on the tree for many months. On older trees there may be dozens of fruits and flower clusters at the same time.

I took this photo few months ago, at Botanical Garden, Penang... and i think its a very unique flower. Wanto share with you guys here..

This certainly is unusual Thong.I've never come across it before.I'll see if I can find out for you. It might take a while though,I suspect.
The focus is a bit soft on the back of the flower.Different aperture settings give greater depth of field...apparently.
Definitely worth posting though.TFS. Steve.

This photo is so interesting, I've never seen one of these, it almost looks like a frilly caterpillar. Your next shot of the whole tree compliments this nicely too. I like the way it seems to be hanging down as if it's heavy. Super nice photo.

Wonderful detail and color in this shot. Almost "orchid-like" flower. Good composition. Too bad we can't get a whiff of the fragrance somehow. TFS
