[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi all,

Yesterday I posted a "Flower of the Cannon Ball Tree" photo here, and this time i decided to post the Cannon Ball Tree Couroupita guanensis itself.

Here are some extra facts about this tree...

Couroupita guanensis
The Cannonball Tree is a South America. The tree is deciduous and large, 50-80 feet in its native lands. It is said to have special significance in the Buddhist religion.

The reason the tree is called cannonball is after flowering, large brown fruit balls are formed in the size and shape of cannonballs.
The "fruit" inside the ball is said to have an unpleasant odor.

Comments, Critiques and Workshops are welcomed.

Very interesting tree Thong. I can't say I've heard of it before. You say unpleasant odour, does that mean it is edible? Good shot. TFS.

Funny and interesting picture. I never saw something like that!
Wonderful photo. Thank you very much!

What a strange tree, they almost look like the red potato hanging on a tree. The photo nicely compliments the flower posted before. well done.

Good shot Thong, a very unusual tree and excellent note.
Thanks for sharing.

I saw a similar treee in a botanical garden in Honduras a few years back. I went to see the flower on your other picture, I had never seen such a beautifull and strange flower. Thank you!

"The "fruit" inside the ball is said to have an unpleasant odor." ...like cannonballs.
Very interesting picture and note. Thanks for sharing this curiosity. This why TN exists.
