Chrysozephyrus birupa, The Fawn Hairstreak
Chrysozephyrus, Shirozu & Yamamoto, is a genus of montane hairstreak butterflies with distribution from the Himalayas to China. One species, sikkimensis, Howarth, reaches as far south as Northern Thailand, but there are no species in Malaysia or Indonesia.
C. birupa is one of no less than 11 species recorded from Nepal in Colin Smith's Illustrated Checklist of Nepal's Butterflies.
This picture of a female butterfly was taken at an elevation of about 8,000 feet in the rainy season. It has been cropped and resized for TN. |

Questa specie mi ricorda il nostro Neozephyrus quercus.
Il soggetto è abbastanza a fuoco e lo sfondo scuro lo fa ben risaltare.
