[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Mitha Jal has twisted, braided, gnarled trunks and branches and cracked bark and I consider it to be one of the most artistic trees in Indo-Pak Sub-continent.This is a common tree of graveyard like the cypress tree in England. Thus it carries a regilious significance as well here in Pakistan or at least in that region of North West Frontier Province of Pakistan where I live. It is also known as Pillu or Peelu after its edible fruit which is favourite with people, birds and animals from June to July. The tree has many medicinal qualities and is considered to one of the best in oral hygiene. Therefore, for this reason it is also known as ToothBrush Tree as its tender twigs are used as toothbrushes which are called 'miswaks' in the regional languages of Pakistan. Love this tree for its many shapes and forms and a lot more medicinal qualities I have not discussed in detail.
