Something About Flamingos

Yes Something about flamingos always make me stop and admide their natural beauties and thier funny beaks.
Why have flamingos got such a funny beak?
The flamingo's beak is unique in the world of birds. It is built like a special filter with which they filter micro-organisms out of the water. Flamingos use their beak as a ladle, pull their tongue backward, and then the water can stream into the beak. Then the tongue slips forward, and the water is pressed out. Only the micro-organisms stay in the beak until finally swallowed. And if the flamingo doesn't find enough food, it even stamps with its feet. This swirls up ground mud that contains food!

Good shot! You've captured this flamingo well, although I feel it could be a bit sharper considering your equipment - 1/100th possibly wasn't fast enough, but probably a good call considering the apparent light levels. My main concern is that the dark areas of the beak are pretty much the same colour as the background, which means that although the beak is the key element, we can't actually see all of it... The only real way to cure that in camera would be to photograph it against a brighter background - green grass would be ideal since it would contrast with the pinks in the flamingo. Well captured :)
