A stunning image Dennis
I have seen these Atlas Moths before, but never in such a deep red colour.
The cropping is very tight, but the image is sharp and well composed and looks great with the black background.

you start with a nice picture,
The colours and pattern of the butterfly are amazing and the details are very good. But I don't like the hard flash light,
a weak fill-in is OK for a small light up of shadows but this don't look natural. Maybe the composition is a bit tight but it's still a nice picture.

Fantastic colours! Brilliant.
Spot on exposure. sharp and good composition.
I don't mind the crop.

Could be even beter with a background. Of course this is not always possible as it required to photograph nocturnal animals by daylight, or to use a combo of ring flash and standard flash, and with also a camera which can tune the 2 to eachother. This is an expensive combo which I also don't have.

What's on the leave? Is it a cocoon of its little brother?

Great iamge of this giant moth
I think th eflash in this shot was too harsh which has resulted in un-natural colours. You should have a bit more room around the moth

A pin-sharp capture of this remarkable butterfly, showing all its colours and patterns clearly.
I like the diagonal composition and would suggest that you leave a little more space around the image to make the composition even better.

Incredible image Dennis,
