Helo Dennis,
I'm afraid I don't know the ID of this caterpillar either. (Sometimes I find out by typing a rough description,or a few keywords into google image search,or looking at a local nature website or boo)
Its a good capture of the larva though,taken in very harsh light by the looks of it.
It also looks quite large.
It will be interesting to find out what it is.

Wow this is really a great looking caterpillar with the most beautiful colours and details. I never thought I’ll ever say this about a worm but I cannot help myself. This is a beauty. The colours are striking, complement each other well and are so warm and inviting. The green background and the leaf the caterpillar is on, really highlight this insect to an even greater extent than it is already. Well done! Sharpness, focus and composition is great and your whole presentation gives another meaning to the word "Worm". I especially like the dots on the body. The texture of the body reminds me of marshmallows. I am sure many will disagree with this observation. Thanks for sharing.

You present us a marvellous close up of this caterpillar. The richness of the details is amazing and you have very well managed the colours and the lighting. I also like the naturally blurred backgrounds that highlights the caterpiller at best.

nie pomogę ci w identyfikacji tej gąsienicy, ale zdjęcie jest bardzo dobre. Idealnie skomponowane, z bardzo dobrym DOF i pięknie oświetlone. Podoba mi się też POV .

A warm welcome to you here on TrekNature even though it might be somewhat belated. I hope you will enjoy your stay and that you will learn heaps about nature and photography from all the friendly people here on the site.

A fascinating caterpillar indeed. Those spikes seem to spell one thing though: "Danger". Good selection of aperture to ensure a well stretched DOF (depth of field). The darkish BG (background) enhances the insect and the colour saturation ensured a pleasant image for the eyes to enjoy. I fancy the composition with the upside-down caterpillar placed on the diagonal.

spettacolare cattura, eccellenti POV e DOF, bellissima la composizione con la prospettiva diagonale del bruco, la luminosità dei colori e la straordinaria definizione dei dettagli ne fanno un'immagine di alta qualità tecnica, ma è molto interessante anche sotto l'aspetto naturalistico.

Dear Dennis,
This is a caterpillar of a moth belonging to the family Saturniidae, Attacini tribe, Attacus genus.
In the Philippines the following 4 Attacus species are abundant:
Attacus atlas (Linnaeus, 1758)
Attacus caesar Maassen, 1873
Attacus lorquinii C. & R. Felder, 1861
Attacus lemairei Peigler, 1985

Should be one of them:)

Hi Dennis,
This is most likely a larva (caterpillar) of the Atlas Moth (Attacus atlas)of which you have a beautiful photo and your first post here in TN. It feeds on many kinds of leaves including that of guava, star fruit, citrus and possibly also santol. This caterpillar is probably nearly fully grown and will soon start spinning a silken cocoon and weeks later emerge as the huge and beautiful Mariposa "Atlas Moth" as you call it!
