Very interesting! Agree with you that it would be real cool if you could show more of the egg. But this is just fantastic in itself. the white against a dark background work very well together in contrast. The details are very nice together with a good composition.

Very good picture of this beautiful Blue. Very sharp and good moment!
I think the ID is not correct;I searched for other pictures of C. sugitanii,but they all looked different from this species on your picture.
I think this is Maculinea arion(Large Blue).
