White-Headed Munia
Size: 11 cm
Description:
It white head contrasting with chestnut body is diagnostic.
Voice:
A thin peep.
Habits:
An open country bird often associated with coastal marshes; also found in dry fields, rural cultivation and low scrub. Outside breeding season forms dense flocks roaming across flat grasslands, often with other munia species. It pecks seeds from low straws or from the ground along grassy edges.
Distribution:
Common resident breeder through the island. |
