[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Plantain Squirrel (Callosciurus notatus) found on a morning walk around the southern edge of McRitchie Reservoir. I also saw them in the mangroves on the northern side of the island and in the botanical gardens.

The plantain squirrel is 15-22 cm in size and is the most commonly seen squirrel in Singapore. Brown with a red belly and a black stripe on each side. Moves around with a single chips, each accompanied by a vigorous flourish of the tail. Their diet consists of fruit pulp and seeds, flowers or leafy shoots, supplemented with arthopods. They are active during day in the middle and lower storey of the forest, usually solitary.

The species ranges from Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia to Sumatra, Java and Borneo. In Singapore it is common and has adapted well to urbanisation.

I know there is too many sticks in the way for the perfectionists, but that’s nature :) A shot of the whole squirrel appears in the WORKSHOP.

Chris,
Read your "intro"; one of the best.
Love your well drafted note.
Re: Your Squirrel:
Great eye contact; looks like it was "posing" just for you.
Colour contrasts well controlled. Congratulations.
And, principally thanks for sharing this lovely cutie.
Mario from COLD COLD CANADA with warm greetings.
P.S. Your screen name caught my eye. I knew an American using the same name on "photolog". But, I see that you are from down under. My brother, Michael, passed away in Perth.... many many moons ago.

Hi Chris,

An excellent capture of this cute fellow from nice POV with fine composition.
TFS and cheers,

Bayram
