Plaintive Cuckoo
Size: 22 cm

Description:
Distinguished from violet cuckoo by full grey head and throat, and lack of eye-ring.

Voice:
A mournful series of whistling notes, rising in pitch.

Habits:
Found in all type of woodlands, except closed forest. It adapts well to cultivated areas, gardens and rural villages, often fairly tame. It is a nest –parasitic on warblers (Sylviidae), especially on prinias and tailorbirds.

An uncommon resident Breeder in the island.
