Long-tailed Macaques Monkey
Macaca fascicularis
It is also called the Cynomolgus Monkey or Crab-eating Macaque.

#1 of my Macaques Series.

Taken at near the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, the HSBC Tree-Top Walk. These wild monkey roam freely on the roads and swinging from tree to tree.

Over the years of living with humans, these monkeys have learnt to adapt to the walking in and out of humans. And many 'itchy fingers' would feed them junk food that they bring along on their walks, many of which are known to be harmful for these little ones. The natural habitat, the tropical rainforest, provides the source of food (berries, fruits, wild water crabs, etc) for these monkeys. But because they have tasted the junk that humans give them, they have grown complacent and greedy.

One of them actually sneaked up on a lady carrying a plastic bag and snatched it from her. It is becoming a problem here that the news has to say "Monkeys are becoming more aggressive". Who's to blame?!

Thus, they are known live MOST SUCCESSFULLY in disturbed habitats and on the periphery of forests.

Oh i tried sharpening the image again after neat image but i didn't like the sharpness it created. Like all its hairs were sticking out and pricky. So i chose to leave it as it is. Soft. Besides, in life, their hair looked real soft too. :)

I like the low light atmosphere achieved in this great pose.
Great details, specially considering the ISO1600 setting.
I think you could force a bit more USM, although I like this soft look too. Nice work, TFS.

Hi Steph,
it's sooo cute, I like to see him sitting there a little contemplative.
Very nice moment, thanks and bye

Ho Stephanie,

What a cute little guy captured in this lovely composition, the pose is great and I think he looks a little sad or maybe a bit thoughtfull, I'm pleased you didn't over sharpen it as the softness of the fur is just lovely, the colours are really nice too and I lust love the light captured in the eyes.

Looks a bit surprised and unhappy. Nice sharpness on eyes.
TFS Stephanie.

Hi Stephanie,
Beautiful animal. Eyes are sharp in an excellent way. Background is nicely blurred and neutral.
1/3 rules is partially executed;horizontally!
Amazingly little noise for 1600! I would not use it myself:-).
A longer shutter speed is an option if you have image stabilizer on your lens. Personally I use 800asa as a limit.
In aperture you can't go further. Big apertures in quality lenses are wonderful tools. Of course they are much more expensive.
Little nid: the monkey's tail...it is not in the image.
Overall well done.
TFS

This is lovely Stephanie. Nice focus on the eyes. I often prefer seeing an animal thinking his own thoughts rather than looking straight at the photographer. I like this. the softness and the OOF background and colors are really nice.

Nicley composed and the subject placed well. I have to guess but believe that the NeatImage resulted in a softer photo. I did a WS and hope you don't mind. Well done.
