I like the tight framing and head-down comp. also. To nit pick :) I would have removed your flash spots on the black parts..

To make such macro with a flash, you need to use one or the other method to spread the light. It comes here from one single source point. Consequently, the shadow under the head is too strong, and the details in the head are lost.
Anyway, nice point of view. Great colors. TFS
