| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| If you look carefully, you will see the goldenwhite paper looking, discarded skin of a lizard in the upper part of the picture, near the tree. You can see the part that covered the head, and still has the face intact. The lizards molt their old skin, with the new underneath. Thse huge predatory creatures, eat anything they can catch. They then swallow it whole, which explains the stomach on some of them. I never saw one big enough to catch a tourist, luckily. They live in the very middle of Kandy, in Kandy lake. I find in Asia, both animals and people live side by side in peace very often. Here this lizard is next to the sidewalk, where people pass by all day. Because they blend in so well, it took me 3 weeks to actually see them. I walked past them, close enough to touch daily. They will lay on the tree roots, cling to tree sides, float in the lake, or lounge in the weeds to sun. I saw ones at least 4 feet long. |

I think you picked a difficult one here Gloria. The lizard is dark and you are on it's shaded side. To get any detail would mean overexposing the sunny side. I htink that is what happend here. Nevertheless, I still love looking at this beasts, I only wish I could see them myself.
