After leaving the coast at Sichon we headed inland to the vast Khao Lung National Park. I went there to view the Krung Ching waterfall, the largest in Thailand and quite impressive. We stayed overnight in a very comfortable bungalow at the park HQ.

A fantastic 7.6km walk through virgin jungle to falls is very highly recommended. I would have to say that the two days we spent here were the highlight of my trip, like most people I love rainforest and I was not disappointed with the animals I saw here, which included Malayan Tapir, Spectacled Languar and White-handed Gibbon (no photos though).

At the park HQ there is a large grassy area with many mature trees. At the base of one these trees I found this fellow, a Forest Crested Lizard (Calotes emma ), about 350mm long. Over the next few days I saw several individuals.
The Forest Crested Lizard ranges from India through Burma, southern China and Thailand to northern Peninsular Malaysia.

Thanks for looking.

Hello Chris,
In spite of the light being difficult you managed to get an excellent shot of this lizard in a very attractive pose! Nice focus on the eye and the scaly pattern is beautiful.
Many thanks, Ulla

Very nice capture, Chris.
All the features and colours of this lizard are sharp and clear. I like the way you have shot it -- holding on to two rusted bars of steel. The green BG reduces the drabness of those bars.
Sorry, points tomorrow.
TFS and bye.

Hello Chris,
Nice capture of this beautiful lizard. Composition and sharpness are great. The blurry background add depth and give a sense of tropical surrounding. Very well done and TFS.

Hello Chris,
a wonderful lizard in a funny pose. The light parts on the body might improve with some post processing. The white is just a little bit too bright IMHO.
Thank you for sharing, Jacob

Wow does he blend, nice detail and good exposure.
